Most faults on automatic doors come not from the door but from the wrong motor. The motor is chosen for the weight of the leaf and how many times a day it opens. Put a villa motor on a housing-complex entrance and it will be labouring within two summers.
Photocell doors suit shop, hotel and business entrances. They open as you approach and close behind you. The thing to watch is the sensor range; set too wide, the door keeps opening for nothing, which costs you both electricity and motor life.
For villa and complex entrances there are two routes. A hinged garden or villa gate looks traditional but needs clearance in front of it. A rail-mounted sliding gate runs sideways and is the only option on narrow entrances. We do not recommend hinged gates on a sloped driveway, because the leaf catches the ground.
On garages, a sectional door folds upward and needs headroom near the ceiling. The roller type takes less space. Whichever you choose, insist on a photocell safety beam and a manual release. Not being able to get the car out during a power cut happens more often than people expect.
We also fit barriers and handle door repair and motorization. Automatic door prices depend on size, motor class and the automation package. We measure on site and the survey is free.
