Aluminium or PVC has no single answer; we look at the size of the opening. On small and medium windows PVC is both cheaper and better insulating. On sliding aluminium doors over three metres and on wide glazed areas aluminium wins: it carries more glass on a slimmer profile and does not sag over the years.
An old prejudice still gets repeated, that aluminium makes a room cold. In a thermally insulated aluminium profile a polyamide barrier sits in the middle and breaks the thermal bridge. Build it with a cheap profile without that barrier and the prejudice turns out to be right. With the correct profile it does not.
In Bodrum the real advantage of aluminium is salt. By the sea, aluminium windows and doors resist corrosion. Even so, the quality of the anodising or powder coating matters; thin coating blisters within a few years. Nobody thinks to ask about the coating thickness in microns, and yet part of the price sits right there.
